This CD has truly been an adventure. After a really fun show at the Baby Grand, where Wayne Watson was a special guest, we went on to record three songs with him. This was meant to be the beginning of a new project, which would include some special guests. Despite having some songs good to go, Brad needed to be cut loose to deal with work and family, so we were without a drummer. Not long afterwards, Tommy got the gig of a lifetime, being the guitar tech for Steve Morse of Deep Purple. So in between world tours, we kept writing and working on tunes. When we were ready to record, Tommy ran into the Hooters in Europe and asked Dave Uosikkinen, their drummer, if he’d be willing to do a session at Target, when it was still in Maryland.  When he was in Philadelphia from the west coast, he did indeed join us for a great session. What a thrill to get to record with one of my heroes, who did an amazing job and really showed his versatility.

Since we had Dave as a special guest, Tommy thought that Johnny Neel could do a killer job on one of his tunes so we turned to Nashville for some tracks, which you can hear on the tune “Take Time”. Lastly, we asked David Bromberg’s violinist, Nate Grower, who Marc knew through Angel Band, to do a session, and he did a fantastic job.

At this point we’re well into the CD and the next thing I know Marc has left town for Red Hook, NY and the lovely Nancy. Now you have to realize I don’t even have copies of all my songs at this point and I’ve been recording with Marc for over 20 years. For awhile, I’m not sure what that means to the project but in January 2013, Marc and Nancy came down in a snow storm so that we could complete the last two tunes with the great line-up of Tommy Alderson, Marc Moss and Brad Fish. Speaking of a killer rhythm section, it doesn’t get much better than that, so what goes around comes around and we finally finished what, I think,is a really great project. Hope you all feel the same way.

Enjoy and Connect…Chris J
